Helping leaders make better technology decisions

Kalika provides independent, board-aligned technology advisory for growing organisations.
Most mid-market businesses reach a point where technology decisions carry real commercial risk, but a full-time technology executive is either premature or unnecessary. At the same time, traditional IT support is too tactical, and large consultancies are often too expensive, too removed, or too vendor-led.
That is the gap Kalika fills.
We work with CEOs, founders, boards, and executive teams to align business priorities with technology decisions – clearly, practically, and without unnecessary complexity.
Who we work with
- Mid-market organisations ($20M – $100M+)
You’re big enough that technology decisions have real consequences. Small enough that one bad call can derail a quarter. You need strategic oversight without the overhead of a full-time executive team.
- Founder-led businesses approaching scale ($3M–$10M)
You’ve built something real. Now the systems that got you here are starting to creak. You need to update without losing agility. You need someone who’s seen this transition before.
- Larger organisations needing independent oversight ($100M–$500M)
Your CIO is capable but stretched. The board wants assurance. You’re navigating M&A or major transformation and need someone who can work alongside your team without politics or turf wars.
How we’re different
- Independent | We don’t sell software or push vendor partnerships. We are not incentivised by platforms, products, or implementation volume. Our only incentive is your outcome.
- Practical | Strategy without execution is just PowerPoint. We roll up our sleeves, work with your team and leave things working better than we found them.
- Measured | We listen first. We don’t arrive with a predetermined solution. Every recommendation is tailored to your context, your constraints, your appetite for change.
The Team

Kalika was founded by Colin Yeung, a technology leader with more than 25 years of experience across sectors including architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), digital, automotive, retail, not-for-profit, and health. Today, Kalika works with a trusted network of experienced specialists, each committed to the same principles: independence, practicality, and measured results.
We don’t maintain a bench of junior consultants to pad out invoices. When you engage Kalika, you get experienced practitioners who’ve held the roles they advise on.
Our approach
- Listen | Understand your business, your constraints, your real priorities – not just the stated ones.
- Assess | Identify the gaps between where you are and where you need to be. Be honest about what’s urgent versus what’s important.
- Plan | Build a roadmap that accounts for your resources, culture and risk tolerance.
- Execute | Work alongside your team to implement. Transfer knowledge. Build capability.
- Measure | Define success upfront. Report progress honestly. Adjust when reality diverges from the plan.
Where our name “Kalika” comes from
Kalika derives from the Sanskrit for “time” or “darkness” – the moment before dawn when clarity emerges from uncertainty. It’s a nod to the work we do, helping leaders see clearly when the path forward isn’t obvious. You can read the full story on The Culture Mind, Colin’s blog published since 2009.
